All about Glen...

I'm Glen. You're reading this because you have an overwhelming curiosity to know a bit more about me. So here goes...

I was born to parents of both sexes on 3rd June 1973 in Preston, Lancashire. I'm the youngest of four which meant, I got all the hand-me-downs which was a tad embarrassing because me immediate older sibling is actually my sister Caroline.

Interestingly enough though, my favourite toy when I was little was my fisher-price record player, which set me up nicely for my unknown future career. At school I was asked what I wanted to do when I was older and I replied, "A radio presenter". Once they stopped laughing they pointed out I was being silly and that it wasn't actually a proper job... I tried thinking about other careers.

The years passed by and after inventing the Internet and foolishly passing on the idea to Bill Gates I decided that I'd try and get a job on the radio. I went through that embarrasing awkward stage where being new to the job, I stupidly thought I was brilliant on hospital radio in Chorley, on Kit Kat Radio at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Debenhams In-Store radio in Preston.

Quite clearly, I was rubbish. Some would argue that today I still am but those early years set me up nicely for my full time radio career which started in Wrexham at Marcher Sound. It could have ended there though, because I fell asleep doing an overnight show. Then I went on to Rock FM in Preston where I could have got into a hell of a lot more trouble for getting through to the ‘situation room' in the White House by pretending to be Tony Blair lost in their phone system; then I spent 7 years at Radio City in Liverpool where I never got into any trouble because scousers understood my stupid humour better than anyone.

Now, here I am at Century Radio broadcasting across the entire North West at Home Time with my friend and broadcasting brother, Scott Hughes, who I worked with in Merseyside. We're settling in just fine, hopefully giving listeners a laugh on their way home after a long day at work.

As for my home life - I'm a 35-year-old dad. I'm married to Alison and we an eight-month-old son, Jamie, who I guess will grow up apologising to his friends for having an embarrassing dad. We live in Lancashire with our 2 dogs Holly and Jasper and whinging cat Jake.
